Moving Towards Better Health in a Split Second
II suggest that each of you receiving this newsletter take a hard look at your lifestyle. The practice of 4 Minute Fitness and Easy Tai Chi is not just limited to a few minutes a day. The peace, focus, chi development, awareness, gratitude, love and vibrancy can ultimately flow into every aspect of your lives.
In the peace and glow following your Easy Tai Chi and 4 Minute Fitness, I suggest you make a quiet resolution to become a beacon of wellness. While actually becoming that “beacon” won’t happen overnight, the shift towards wellness can be immediate. In a split second, you can stop moving toward illness and immediately begin moving toward wellness. The direction is the most important. When you decide to move toward wellness, from that point on it is simply a gradual step-by-step movement to better health. How exciting!
A “shift” example. Say you are in Minneapolis and begin driving toward San Diego. You are “moving toward” San Diego. Then you make a decision to go to Boston. You immediately turn to Boston. While you are not yet there, you are now “moving toward” Boston. It is the shift in direction that is most important. With time and persistence, you will reach your chosen destination.
So – ask yourself what you are doing that may sabotage your wellness. Set wellness goals (visualize your “new” self). Then determine what little steps you need to take each day to reduce those destructive habits or patterns, thereby beginning to “move toward” your goals.
In essence, ask yourself what you can do to be more vibrant, stronger and healthier – and then begin taking small steps in that direction. Recognize that a healthier YOU can make a much bigger difference in the world. By looking after yourself first, you can make a much bigger positive impact on your family, friends and others around you.

Life Quote
A couple of my favourite quotes offered by teachers at our last Symposium
“He who half breathes, half lives” Ancient proverb
“Can you be as the lovely lotus flower at home in the muddy waters?” (unknown origin)
Tai Chi Symposium in Palm Springs, CA – November 5 – 9, 2009
NEW! This four day retreat is perfect for anyone who has learned the basics from the DVD. This Symposium is designed to rocket you to the next levels. We will have a blast together – it is so much fun. And if you need some extra cash, you can also use this session to become Certified to teach.
And – I will be teaching the newest addition to our Easy Tai Chi series – Easy Tai Chi FLOW (not available on DVD). You will love these new moves.

Question Period
Q: Now that I have your DVD’s, I notice that I am (and have been) a shallow breather. I have always taken short breaths, almost as if I am afraid of something. Is there any hope that my breathing will improve?
A: Absolutely. But only if you practice deep breathing every day (as you are doing in your 4 Minute Fitness and Easy Tai Chi practice). The first step is to recognize poor breathing habits, as you have done. The next step is to “move toward” better breathing (see Feature article). As you override your automatic shallow breathing with manual practice, your automatic breathing gradually improves. And even better – your awareness improves, so you will more often notice shallow breathing, and then consciously take deeper breaths.
Also – with practice you will control your stress levels and your thought processes. And the deep breathing practice will increase your state of relaxation. This new state of relaxation and reduced anxiety will help deal with fear and worry more effectively, making deep breathing easier and more natural.
There is a secret to success…. practice daily. Easy.
Food for thought – fad diets sell books and gimmicks
“A landmark study shows that people can lose weight on a variety of diets – including low fat plans and low-carb ones – as long as they consume fewer calories” (From Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, New England Journal of Medicine).
Finally – some common sense added to the world of weight loss. So many authors make so much money on “yet another plan”. They feed off our desires to lose weight without having to do what it takes to really shed pounds and maintain that loss.
In most cases, losing weight requires one of two approaches. Eat less and/or exercise more. Calories in, calories out. Simple.
If you want common sense, effective help, then order Easy Weight Loss for Busy People. This CD will help you “move toward” weight loss. No grapefruit diets here… I promise.
