Homeless Seniors on Vancouver Island?

The tent city in Victoria is headline news every day here on the Island and rightly so. It should never have been allowed to have escalated to the position that it has now become. It should have been dealt with compassionately and decisively on day one. Unfortunately this is totally foreign to the way all levels of government operate.

We hear very little about homelessness and seniors, but we all know that this is a real issue. WE must not ignore these issues, they are real, they exist and they must be addressed.

Seniors 101 would like to know how big is the seniors homelessness problem on Vancouver Island, what are your thoughts?

  1. I spent a little time in tent city. Garbage city is a more apt name. I didn’t find any seniors there. I found young to middle aged people who seemed a bit edgy when someone they didn’t know (myself), walked in their midst.

I think that environment may be too rough for homeless seniors to live in, but they are certainly out there. And there are so many more seniors living on the edge of homelessness.
