The recently truant Senator of winter-devastated Texas – Ted Cruz was on the receiving end of such wit when one of his constituents hired a mariachi band to play for him.
Adam Jama in Carrollton, Texas set up a GoFundMe to bring in a mariachi band to perform in front of his Senator’s home – just to remind him what he was missing in sunny, warm Cancun.
Senator Ted Cruz tried to sneak away to Cancun while his electorate were freezing and without water, got caught, lied on national TV about when he was planning to return, finally fessed up, and blamed his daughters for his extreme lapse in judgement.
Only now has he started “handing out blankets” after realizing his privilege will not insulate him from terrible optics and public opinion.
Here’s the real, subtle barb: Profits from GoFundMe will go to Texas Children’s Hospital. That’s a fantastic answer to a man who went on Fox News where Tucker Carlson tried to hand him a free pass saying, “what were you supposed to do? Take a blow torch and thaw out the windmills?”
What were you supposed to do? Work for your suffering countrymen as the public servant you were hired to be. Step up and lead! Instead, we saw abdication, cowardice and a dad who threw his kids under the bus.
I’m betting the mariachi band will be serenading his departure from politics when the next electoral cycle comes calling.
