It’s almost time to go back home. Did you miss any of these Parksville Qualicum Beach must-do’s?

North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre: Here’s your opportunity to view Vancouver Island wildlife, especially raptors and black bears! This is a non-profit organization that cares for the well-being of Vancouver Island wildlife. Find them at 1240 Leffler Road in Errington.

 

2. World Parrot Refuge: The World Parrot Refuge is an educational facility that provides a “Home for Life” for previously owned pet parrots. The Refuge has over 800 parrots, a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, and 23,000 square feet of heated indoor free-flight aviaries. Find them at 2116 Alberni Hwy between Parksville and Coombs.

3. Butterfly World & Gardens: Stroll amongst hundreds of free-flying exotic butterflies in indoor tropical gardens. Find them at 1080 Winchester Road in Coombs.

4. Cathedral Grove: Plan to spend a few hours wandering Cathedral Grove’s trail system and gazing up at 800 year-old giant Douglas Fir trees. Cathedral Grove is located at the top end of Cameron Lake, only minutes from Qualicum Beach and Parksville on Highway 4 just beyond Coombs.

5. Englishman River Falls: This is one of the prettiest BC Parks on Vancouver Island, with camping, picnic areas, swimming and hiking, and a spectacular waterfall in the midst of the forest. Find this BC Provincial Park at the end of Errington Road, just outside of Parksville.
