One of Vancouver Island’s top private employers is adding new certification to its resume.

Coastal Community Credit Union (CCCU), the largest Vancouver Island-based financial services provider, has received the honour of being certified as a Great Place to Work.

The recognition comes from the Great Place to Work® Institute Canada after its independent analysis involving feedback from CCCU employees through an anonymous survey.

“This certification truly belongs to our employees,” says Adrian Legin, CCCU’s President and CEO. “I’d like to thank them for their enthusiastic efforts to create an admired work environment, and most especially for their leadership.”

Coastal Community believes that when employees feel empowered through leadership, they’re better able to grow their expertise, be courageous in the face of change, and try new things.

“Our employees are the face and heart of this organization,” adds Legin, “and their leadership, across all levels, powers the great things we’re able to do for our members, clients and communities.”

First formed in 1946, CCCU has grown to be among the top ten largest credit unions in BC when measured by asset size.

CCCU has over 575 employees across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Over the years, Coastal Community has also stepped up efforts to become a true learning organization.

From professional development opportunities, to ongoing access to higher education, to the all-employee learning summit held last fall in Nanaimo, CCCU is committed to continuous learning.

Adds Legin, “It’s more than just saying we’re a learning organization. We’re putting that into action by investing in our employees and doing innovative things while keeping leadership at the forefront of everything we do.

The Great Place To Work recognition is a source of pride for us, as it acknowledges the hard work all of us are putting into our workplace culture.”
