NANAIMO HOSPICE IS ASKING YOU TO GET OUT AND HUSTLE FOR HOSPICE!
With changes to all fundraising events this year, Nanaimo Community Hospice Society was not able to hold it’s signature event, HIKE FOR HOSPICE in person. Since restrictions are now in place on large gatherings the organization has had to change gears and is asking people to register individually or get your family/team together, register, gather pledges and “do what you do best – and do it for hospice”.
Registrants are already out there walking the waterfront, hiking Westwood Lake or other trails, kayaking, golfing and other physical activities in our beautiful city.
There will be an opportunity to upload your videos and share your activities as well. Registration is open until August 28th with three pick up dates for hats, buffs & swag. The virtual finish line will be held September 12th.
Hospice has continued to offer one to one counselling and grief groups virtually and the list of referrals is growing by the day.
“The whole world is grieving right now making it extremely hard for those also facing the loss of someone they love and not being able to gather to support one another. The need for our services are greater now than ever.
We are not funded by the Minister of Health and can only exist because of our amazing volunteers and donors. Because of COVID 19 and to keep our volunteers, customers and staff safe, we had to close our only sustainable source of income, our Hospice Shoppe.
Although we have opened up three days a week with limited hours, we still lost a great deal of income since March” stated Paul Sibley, Executive Director.
The need for programs and services will continue to grow due to COVID 19 as well as our aging community. The organization is asking folks to go towww.nanaimohospice.com click on events to register or donate to ensure we can continue to provide this important work in our community.
Please let us know the preferred format of promotional videos that we have available to send you with more information. Please help us promote this new important event.
