Her accolades in the sporting world are numerous, including University Basketball Coach of the Year in Canada, and it’s that coaching savvy that Financial Advisor Louisa Zerbe draws on to assist her clients.
Louisa has been with Edward Jones since 2007 and took over the Qualicum Beach office in July, 2010. Edward Jones is the fourth largest investment firm in North America and offers a range of services including retirement and investment planning as well as insurance and estate planning.
With a Masters Degree in sports psychology, experience coaching at the university level, several years spent running her own business and eight years in the financial industry, Louisa is able to provide her clients with knowledge and coaching so they can make well informed decisions when it comes to their financial portfolio.
If you’re worried about outliving your money and confused about where to invest these days you are not alone. Louisa acknowledges that uncertainties in the world economy have made investors much more fearful about their financial future than their parents were. “That’s why there is now even more of a need for a financial strategy. People need to live with dignity and independence as they move through retirement,” she says, aware that each of her clients is going to go through more than one lifestyle change and more than one downturn in the market. “A portfolio must be prepared to weather that. There is no portfolio without a plan.” Louisa admits that recent stock market volatility has people on edge but she is optimistic and positive the market will turn around. “That’s why I take an education approach. It lessens the fear which comes from a lack of knowledge.”
Louisa enjoys the challenges that each client brings and proactively shares her expertise, knowledge and experience with them. “I love what I do and I love helping people. Figuring out how to put all the pieces in place is key to a retirement strategy and that’s what she does.
Louisa is an avid sports enthusiast and, while her knees don’t let her take part in the action on the basketball court anymore, she loves to take her dog Sydney (who also has bad knees) for runs on the beach every evening. “I’m very excited about making my life in Qualicum Beach and look forward to becoming involved in the community, including finding a junior sports team to coach — that’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.”
